Graduates of art and design have several doors open to them because of the variety of training that they will have undergone in a good program. Designers influence and change the way society communicates, expresses themselves and in turn create through planning and designing online media and print advertising, among other things.

Currently, art and design majors are some of the most in demand professionals because they can cross over into so many industries and fill so many creative needs.
Current statistics show that careers in the design world continue to hold importance, and job opportunities increase every year. An associate’s in art and design can be catered to so many areas including graphic design, web development, fashion merchandising, interior design and advertising.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, artists and related workers had around 218,000 jobs in 2006; nearly 62 percent of these professionals were self-employed. Art directors and artists also were a large portion of art and design graduates year by year. Employment of artists and related workers is going to increase by 16 percent over the to 2016, which is faster than the average for all career paths.

Art and design degrees are usually  liberal arts-based programs that give students the chance to specialize in a particular industry or field. Core curriculum courses include math, history, and sciences. As students chose their majors, courses such as programming languages, art and music theory,  are academic staples.

An online degree will allow art and design students to choose their own way of studying. On-campus, online, and hybrid programs are available to mesh with variety of learning styles. One benefit to earning your degree online is that students will learn technological components that employers want to see.
